How to make vertical clips from a long video

Updated:

A podcast, a class or a one-hour livestream can become dozens of clips for Shorts, TikTok and Reels. This is the workflow we recommend, start to finish.

1. Pick the moments

Look for 15- to 60-second segments that stand on their own: a clear answer, an anecdote, a concrete tip. The first second has to hook; if needed, start the clip right on the strongest line.

2. Crop to vertical

9:16 needs to frame the person speaking. With ClipSprint you paste a YouTube link or upload the file, mark your moments and download vertical clips in a minute.

3. Add word-by-word captions

Open each clip in CueSprint. The transcript is automatic and you can choose the style, size and position. Use the Bottom preset to keep the text out of the button area.

4. Check on your phone

Watch the clip on your phone before posting. Make sure the captions are readable, that the interface doesn't cover them and that the first second hooks.

5. Post consistently

A well-used long video gives you material for weeks. Post regularly and note which clips hold attention best to choose your next moments.
