Upload SRT captions to Facebook, LinkedIn and Vimeo
Updated:
Not every platform treats captions the same way. Some let you upload an SRT that viewers can switch on; others only show what is burned into the video. Knowing which is which saves you from posting a silent video with no text.

Platform features change; check the upload screen of each app if something looks different.
- Download the SRT from CueSprint.
- Rename it with the language: Facebook expects names like
myvideo.en_US.srt(English, US) ormyvideo.es_LA.srt(Spanish, Latin America). - When publishing or editing the video, find the Subtitles & captions section and upload the file.
- Check the preview and save.
Facebook videos often autoplay muted in the feed. If you want the text to be seen without anyone tapping CC, use the burned-in MP4 instead.
- Start a post and add your video.
- In the video editing step, look for the option to add a caption file.
- Upload the
.srtfrom CueSprint and post.
Professional audiences frequently watch at work with the sound off, so captions on LinkedIn are close to mandatory. Keep lines short (3–4 words per group) for the mobile feed.
Vimeo
- Open the video's settings and find the Subtitles (or captions) section.
- Add a new track, choose the language and whether it is subtitles or captions.
- Upload the SRT or the VTT from CueSprint and turn the track on.
Vimeo's player lets viewers choose the track, and you can upload one file per language.
TikTok and Instagram: burn them in
TikTok and Instagram don't take caption files. Their automatic captions are optional for viewers and limited in style. For vertical video, export the MP4 from CueSprint with the captions burned in: the word-by-word highlight is visible to everyone, with or without sound.
Tip: keep both. Post the burned-in MP4 to TikTok and Reels, and the clean video plus SRT to YouTube, Facebook or LinkedIn.
